On exposed, siliceous rocks, and on shaded vertical bricks of old walls, in natural and artificial habitats.

The material has traditionally been treated as C. tegularis in our checklist area. One specimen from Luxembourg (Ard.) has been identified as C. a. subsp. obliterata by Gaya (2009), but the rest of the material still needs to be revised.
